Women's Studies Internship

A limited number of internship placements are available each semester to WS majors and certificate earners. If you are interested in an internship, it is a good idea to start arranging your placement the semester BEFORE you want to take the internship. The process often takes several weeks and only students who have a definite placement will be able to register. We want to make sure we have a placement arranged for you before you register, so students are not in the situation of having paid for the course but not having a placement.

Eligibility Criteria and Application Procedures for the Internship:

  1. Have taken three WS courses before your placement begins.

  2. Be earning a Women's Studies major or undergraduate certificate.

  3. Email a resume to the Internship Director, lshrage@fiu.edu

  4. Select three internship site possibilities from the proposed list (or propose your own site).

  5. Meet with the Internship Director for a brief interview. You can schedule an appointment by contacting our administrative assistant or the Director (click "Contact Us").

  6. We will check with the internship sites you have chosen to see if they are accepting students.

  7. You will interview with the internship site and see if a mutually acceptable placement can be arranged.

  8. Once the above steps have been completed, then download and complete a permission form, and bring or send it to the Women's Studies Center in order to receive a permit number to register for the course.
